Patina incubates beauty brands. We invest capital, advise founders, and facilitate global distribution in pursuit of long-term aspirations over short-term returns.

Founded from within.

Patina was founded in 2020 by a management team that lives within the very customer segment it is serving. With the aim of being the resource of choice for the next generation of market leaders, we couple strategic capital with a number of deeply talented, in-house specialists to assist with go-to-market strategy, as well as sizable, vertically-integrated infrastructure to bolster founder strengths for the good of their brands.

Contrary to industry norms, we prioritize brand values, vision, and creativity over accelerated growth, hype, and trend-chasing. By prioritizing the former, we trust that consumers will drive the latter.

Ransley Carpio

Founder, Managing Partner

Ransley’s professional career includes 8 years of private equity, focused on consumer brands, for some of the category‘s most notable funds, including L Catterton. Since leaving PE in 2017, Ransley has been focused on US market creation and expansion for globally respected, progressive brands such as WelleCo, Grown Alchemist, BIOEFFECT, 19-69, and Cannuka.

While Ransley’s position typically sits atop a US org chart, his range of capabilities is typically centered around include infrastructure creation/audit (logistics, finance, manufacturing, key hires), retail strategy and expansion (horizontal and vertical), and bridging the gap between finance and brand, which can mean financial statement creation and reconciliation, but maybe more importantly, guiding a brand’s economic growth while retaining its core DNA.

Having been born in Hawaii, and after a short stint as a minor league baseball player, he now lives between New York City and Miami, with a penchant for a sartorial uniform, and trying to surpass the 4.0 mark as an amateur tennis player.

Brady Donnelly

Founder, Managing Partner

Brady is a marketing and brand-building specialist who believes success in today’s market requires an ability to both surface a brand‘s intrinsic value and build the architecture — creative and technical — to facilitate a seamless relationship with its core consumer.

This perspective gave shape to Hungry, the full-service creative agency he founded in 2014. Hungry specialized in building out end-to-end marketing and e-commerce solutions for beauty and wellness brands, including Sephora, Dr. Jart+, Indie Lee, WelleCo, FaceGym, and Organic Doctor, as well as household names like Bacardi, Carnival Cruises, MassMutual, and Motorola.

In 2017, Hungry was acquired by FIG, a three-time Ad Age A-List agency, where, as Executive Director of Consumer Experience, he focused on building cohesion between global brands’ online and offline touchpoints. His clients there included Casper, Virgin Atlantic, Spotify, Vimeo, and CNN.

Born and raised in northern Michigan, Brady now splits his time between upstate New York and Los Angeles, where he attempts a more eco-conscious way of living while raising his dense bulldog, Olive.
